Tile Installation Ottawa
Premium Tile Installation in Ottawa. Done Right the First Time
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Everything Ottawa homeowners ask about tile installation
1. How much does tile installation cost in Ottawa?
Depending on tile size, pattern complexity, and substrate prep. Large-format and herringbone patterns cost more. Heated floors, waterproofing systems, and shower tile are quoted separately.
2. How long does a tile installation take?
A standard bathroom floor takes 2–3 days. A full custom shower with waterproofing, niche, bench, and curbless drain takes 4–7 days. Large kitchen or open-area floors can take 5–10 days depending on size and pattern. We don't rush — proper prep and cure times matter.
3. Do you install heated floor tile in Ottawa?
Yes — heated floors are one of our most-requested upgrades, especially in Ottawa's cold winters. We install Schluter Ditra-Heat and Nuheat electric mat systems under porcelain and ceramic tile in bathrooms, mudrooms, kitchens, and basements. Programmable thermostats included.
4. What waterproofing system do you use for tile showers?
We use Schluter-Kerdi and Kerdi-Board systems on every shower we build — the gold standard for waterproofing. This includes Kerdi membrane, Kerdi-Drain, and properly waterproofed niches and benches. No water gets behind our tile, ever.
5. Can you install large-format tile in Ottawa homes?
Yes — we install 24"×48", 30"×60", and even slab-format porcelain tiles. Large-format tile requires perfectly flat substrate (within 1/8" over 10 feet) and a proper LFT mortar. We handle subfloor leveling and prep before installing.
6. Do you do tile repair and replacement?
Yes. Cracked tiles, failing grout, leaking showers, popped floors — we repair and replace as a standalone service. We match existing tile when possible or recommend replacements that complement the original installation.
7. What's the difference between porcelain and ceramic tile?
Porcelain is denser, harder, more water-resistant, and rated for higher-traffic and exterior use. Ceramic is softer, lighter, easier to cut, and usually less expensive. For Ottawa floors and showers, we recommend porcelain. Ceramic works well for backsplashes and walls.
8. What's included in your tile installation quote?
Substrate inspection, leveling/prep, waterproofing membrane (where needed), mortar, tile installation, grouting, sealing (where needed), trim and edge profiles (Schluter), final cleanup, and warranty. We don't cut corners on prep — that's where most tile failures start.
